Bryson Nitta

About

Welcome!

N.B. can stand for any number of things.  It can stand, and this is pretty clever, for Nitta’s Blog.  But it can also stand for nota bene, of course.  That’s pure fanciness.

I’m starting this blog because after my experience with The Third Wave, I decided the blogging life can be pretty enjoyable.  It’s sort of nice to have your own little corner of cyberspace.  In a way, I suppose it’s kind of like having a diary or a journal, but without the confession-esque air of it all, and perhaps most importantly, when blogging, I feel more like an intelligent coffee-drinking Seattle liberal and less like a hormonal thirteen year old girl (ala diary).  Granted, it’s not really great to feel like an intelligent coffee-drinking Seattle liberal.  It sucks.  But it’s better, from all accounts, then feeling like your mom and dad don’t understand you and that your slick boyfriend driving his parent’s old Protoge is Adonis himself.

In any case, I feel like I’m living in a post-Third Wave world right now.  Let me say right here and now, though, that this feeling is very liable to change.  I could jump right back on that train at any moment, so get thee behind me, Satan!  But one of the things I learned from the Third Wave is that if you limit your blog to one subject (like the environment, environmentalism, nature, etc.), you tend to run out of things to say really fast.  I mean, let’s be honest:  no one is that smart (heh, well, that’s what I’d like to think, anyway).  There’s only so much one can say about snail darters and spotted owls and other such things without sounding like some zealot babbling to oneself on a Tuesday morning.

That’s why this blog, I hope, will be a bit more open.  Sure, I will probably discuss the same things I discussed on the Third Wave.  I will probably do my little environmentalist song and dance, and I’ll have a damn good time doing it.  But, as surprising as some folks might find this, I do have other interests outside the environment.  Heresy, you say?  Heresy it may be, and shocking, too, but nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

So, this blog now christened with its clever little title (I think it’s a clever little title, anyway), and I hope you’ll enjoy it.  Please comment with your thoughts, feelings, and maybe we can just enjoy each others cybercompany a little bit.  What do you say?

All the best,

Bryson
